1who runs once

once is built and operated by an individual developer, not a company. Questions about this policy or about your data can be sent to the contact address above.

2once does not handle money

This is the most important thing to understand about the app. once is a record-keeping tool. It does not process, transfer, hold, or facilitate any payment. It records what players agreed happened at a game and calculates who owes whom.

Players settle up between themselves using their own payment apps, outside of once. If you choose to save a payment handle in your profile, once stores that text so other players can find you in their own payment app. once never initiates a transfer and has no access to your bank, card, or payment app account.

3who can use once

once is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children, and accounts are not knowingly created for anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has an account, contact the address above and it will be deleted.

4what once collects

Account information

You sign in with Google. once receives your email address, your name, and your Google profile picture URL. once never receives or stores your Google password.

Information you create in the app

Information created automatically

What once does not collect

5why once uses this information

Only to run the app: to sign you in, to show a game's state to the players in it, to calculate settlements and leaderboards, to deliver the social features, and to remind players about amounts that are still outstanding. once does not use your information to build advertising profiles.

6what other players can see

once is a shared record among people who play together, so some of your information is visible to other players by design.

Access is enforced at the database level, so players cannot read records from games they were not part of.

7services once relies on

once uses a small number of third-party services, and shares only what each needs to do its job.

once does not sell your personal information, and does not share it with data brokers or advertisers.

8how long once keeps your data

Game records are kept for as long as your account exists, because their purpose is to be a lasting history of your games. If you delete your account, your profile, posts, messages, and uploaded images are deleted.

Records of games you played in may be retained in a form that no longer identifies you, so that the other players' own history and settlement records stay accurate. A settled debt cannot be un-recorded for one player without corrupting it for the other.

9your choices and rights

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. once does not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. To exercise any of these rights, use the contact address above.

10security

Data is stored with a managed database provider, encrypted in transit, and protected by per-user access rules so that players can only read records they are entitled to see. Sign-in is handled by Google, so once never sees your password. No service can promise perfect security, but these are the measures in place.

11changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects how your information is used, the effective date above will be updated and the change will be noted in the app. Continuing to use once after a change means you accept the updated policy.
